This class will focus on building the fundamental skills and technique of blowing hollow forms on the torch. The course will begin with exercises to become comfortable pulling points and understanding how to blow borosilicate glass. Students will be encouraged to push their boundaries of working too hot and too cold in search of the sweet spot for molten manipulation. The second half of the class will focus on individual projects, and students are encouraged to come with drawings and ideas of what they would like to create. The instructor will provide technical guidance for the students in how to approach their project. Whether it’s goblets, pipes, teapots, or sculpture, blowing glass on the torch has a wide range of potential and throughout the class we’ll unearth and approach the possibilities together and Blow It Up.
