This workshop is designed to introduce you to the use of kiln-fired enamels on fused art glass. Starting with exploring the 2 different types of enamels, their properties, and their application. We will be using line drawings provided by the instructor so that our focus remains on application techniques. Each of these techniques are adaptable to your own future artistic expression.
This is a fast-paced workshop so we will move from project to project to make the best use of our time. We will also dive into kiln firing schedules, application of French cleats for hanging, and adapting photos into layers.
The techniques covered in this 4-day session will be: Mixing enamels and ink, Blending Fusemaster, Blocking and blending Colors for Earth, Creating texture with stippling, Pen and Ink, Creating branch details with Frit, Overpainting with Enhancers, Water reflections, Prep for fuse firing, Tinting with Fusemaster. Firing multiple layers of glass into a thick block.
Kimberly will provide written instructions for each technique as well as bring samples of the techniques used on other glass projects.
