This course is designed to introduce you to the world of broom-craft. You will learn common broom terminology and the various parts of the plant matter that can be used for crafting brooms, brushes and other accessories.

Start with the foundations of broom construction & apply those skills to larger sweepers while we play with the relationship between sculpture and tool. You will learn to sort & grade materials, prepare & finish handles and weave & stitch broom corn. We will explore design considerations & creative problem solving. You will have the opportunity to craft several brooms using time-tested techniques.

This class is suited for beginners and beyond. Moderate hand & body strength is necessary.
