Order Processing and Related Skills for the Hospital Setting

This course provides learners with the knowledge and skills needed to function as a unit clerk in a hospital setting. Learners will gain knowledge of the patient chart and related forms, admission and discharge procedures, and how to process medical orders using a paper based chart. Learners will complete order sets related to medications, intravenous therapy, laboratory and diagnostic tests, nutrition, elimination, oxygen therapy, vital signs measurement, activity orders, as well as consults and referrals. Use of meditech processes and meditech practice is included.
